Open-ended play doesn’t have to mean completely redoing your classroom—or buying a whole new set of materials. Sometimes it starts with one simple swap.
•Trade costumes for scarves. •Little People for simple peg people. •Add a box of recyclables to the block center. •Swap plastic playdough tools for real household tools. •Offer open-ended art materials instead of a pre-planned craft.
The goal isn’t to create a “perfect” open-ended classroom overnight. It’s to give children more opportunities to imagine, create, problem-solve, and decide what something can become.
Start small. Change one thing. Then step back and watch where they take it. #connectedclassroom #childledlearning
