Big behaviors don’t need big reactions.
When a child is struggling, we can come back to the A.B.C. of behavior:
A — Acknowledge Show them you see what they wanted and that you’re there to help.
B — Boundary Hold the limit clearly, calmly, and assertively.
C — Choices Give two constructive choices for what they can do next.
Connection means seeing the child BEYOND their behaviors, while holding the boundaries needed to keep them and their friends safe.
