This school year is going to feel like we’re starting over approximately 47 times. 😅

Just as our children begin settling into the rhythm of school… another Yom Tov comes along, routines shift, and then we come back and begin again.

So each time we return, we can treat it a little like another first day.

Give extra grace for big emotions. Leave more space for connection. Keep routines simple and predictable. Repeat expectations they already “know.” And don’t overstuff the curriculum trying to get it all in before the next holiday.

You can even start reconnecting before they come back.

Send a quick little video saying hi for parents to show their child before school. Seeing their teacher’s familiar face and hearing their voice can go such a long way.

Ask parents to send a photo or two from their break. Print them out for the children to find when they return, or compile them into a little classroom book they can look through together.

Give them space to tell you about where they’ve been and what they’ve done.

We don’t need to rush children right back into learning.

First, we help them find their classroom, their people, and their rhythm again. 🤎
